A Toad !

Finally got around to building a brake van.  I needed a toad brake for the Great Western trains at Windrush Junction.  This particular one was built from the Peco kit # W601,  a 16 ton van,  and very nice it was to build too.  Still needs some weathering and touch ups.  A fun little project for the week,  back to scenery on the layout.

Windrush Junction update

With more spare time I've been working on the basic scenery around Windrush Junction. It's coming along little by little.  Here's a couple shots showing the overall scene as it currently is.  The line heading off into the "black hole" at the far end is the GWR line to Minehead,  which in reality heads to a fiddle yard in the closet.

Adding Life to Windrush Junction

 With some extra time on my hands,  I thought I'd paint a few figures to add to Windrush Junction.  I've only painted a few, but so far I've found it very enjoyable, relaxing,  very beneficial in these times.  It certainly tests the hand eye coordination,  not to mention the eyeballs !

Windrush Junction Progress

With reduced hours at work I've had some time to do a few little projects at Windrush Junction.   First up I was never happy with the wood platform,  the top layer of wood being a compromise at the time due to lack of supplies.  This has now been improved with a new top layer and a much more scale appearance,  just needs painting.  Next I built up 4 of the Peco Platform Gas Lamps (LK-759),  very nice they are and were installed.  I added some Spear fencing (LK-741) around the East side of the station,  and 1 working gate which will eventually lead to the station masters cottage.   All for now,  but there should be more developments soon.

Flu precautions

Amazing how a few weeks go by and the entire world comes to a screeching halt.  Hope everyone takes it easy,  stays healthy, and take some comfort in our wonderful hobby which can be enjoyed on ones own.   How lucky are we to have such a hobby to escape the troubles of the world.

Sheeted Midland Railway Wagon

Haven't posted too much lately as work and life have been interrupting model time.  I have managed to complete the Slaters MR 5 plank open wagon.  I decided to make a tarp cover for it as it's one of the older Slaters kits with no interior detail,  plus I like sheeted wagons and didn't have any.  I tried the tissue paper with white glue technique.  Overall I'm happy with it for now.  Might revisit it again someday when time permits.  Onto some scenic projects :)
